About Me

Since 1986 Rick Unger has done color grading to motion pictures for the commercial and entertainment industry. For over 24 years he has provided an artistic approach to creating color moods and tones to thousands of national broadcast commercials. Working in collaboration with an amazing amount of talented Directors and DP’s. First memorable experience was working on a Chevy Truck campaign. Talking with Haskell Wexler communicating his thoughts and ideas and my new talents in designing complex and dynamic looks to his awesome cinematography. From that moment on Rick was hooked with passion for the image. As color technology has changed so has the experience of the Colorist. From the flatbed winding reel-to-reel film days to the current software based DI conforming and color grading systems. Rick has experience with Davinci, Quantel Pablo, and Final Cut Color. He is currently working on a 2K Nucoda Film master. This DI workstation is capable of doing stereoscopic images. Rick is an expert at creating workflows for the large variety of 2k and 4K data file based cameras. He has worked with Red, Viper, Genesis, Arri, Alexia, P2, Canon 5D, and Sony F-35. Recent projects finished: “Pale Bride” Music Video for Von Bondies “ Shot on Red and P2 “Deadheads” 94-minute feature comedy shot on Arri D21 “The Rain” 95-minute horror feature shot on Red. “Secondus Adventus” 15-minute espionage short shot on 35mm film “Pure Michigan” 30- second commercial shot on 35mm film. “Corvette” 30-second commercial shot on Canon 5D
