About Me

Jim Karnes is a man with a passion for precision. And that informs everything he does at Ringside. Whether he's perfecting a sound, optimizing technology or listening to exactly what his clients are saying. In any production, there are thousands of gremlins that can stand in the way of great work, but Jim has built his career on engineering them out of the system. From the time he started in 1991, fresh out of Michigan State University, Jim began making his mark at Ringside. And his contributions have had a lasting effect on the audio department. From his early days in the asset library all the way up to his current postion as Audio Engineer, Jim has done everything in his power to ensure Ringside is a well-oiled machine. And the beauty of that can be heard in the work for all of Ringside's clients. Whether it's a finely crafted automotive spot or the innovative techniques he used on the Voodoo Suns CD that was nominated for a 2006 Na Hoku award. Beyond his contributions to Ringside, Jim applies his prowess to Genelec speakers. He is their one-man test facility / software debugger. In his personal time, Jim enjoys the roles of world traveler and grandfather.
